Danish designer Kai Kristiansen’s designs represent the classic market in fine Scandinavian design. A versatile and imaginative creator, Kristiansen has made contributions to a variety of interior concepts, including desks, chairs, bar cabinets and TV-stands. Born in 1929, he completed his education at the prestigious Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts – under renowned architect Kaare Klint - before setting up a workshop of his own in 1955.
Though Kristiansen’s work is characterised by clean-lined wood pieces, this digression from the modernist influence of his design peers meant that certain items gained fame from the classicist market. Notably, the No.42 Chair was received with critical acclaim and has gone onto become a popular addition to Danish design.
